APPLICATION AND PARTICIPATION

1. What is the difference between Cooperative Education and Internship? An internship is a short-term, mandatory work experience typically completed during summer semesters or winter breaks, when no courses are held. In contrast, Cooperative Education is an optional, longer-term work experience program that takes place during the 7th and 8th semesters, replacing academic coursework with full-time employment at a partner company.

2. Who can participate in Cooperative Education? Students who have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.50/4.00 and have successfully completed all courses in the first 6 semesters are eligible to apply for Cooperative Education. Note: Students who do not initially meet the requirements may still become eligible to apply if they complete 180 ECTS credits with the required CGPA through summer school courses.

3. Can students enrolled in double major or minor programs participate in Cooperative Education? A student enrolled in a double major program may participate in Cooperative Education through their primary major and must suspend the second major during this period. The application for Cooperative Education in the second major can be submitted no earlier than the following academic year. A student enrolled in a minor program may participate only through their major and must suspend the minor. The student resumes undergraduate studies in the minor program in the following academic year.

4. Can I participate in Cooperative Education for only one semester? Cooperative Education is a program covering both the 7th and 8th semesters. The minimum duration is 28 weeks (i.e., 2 semesters). Applications for only one semester are not accepted.

5. Does extending my education (delaying graduation) prevent me from joining Cooperative Education? No, it does not. As long as you meet the participation requirements and have at least two semesters remaining before graduation, you are eligible.
SCHOLARSHIP, SALARY, AND EXPENSE

6. Will participating in Cooperative Education affect my scholarship? No, scholarships are not suspended during the Cooperative Education period.

7. Will I be paid during Cooperative Education? Students work full-time under the workplace’s conditions and responsibilities and receive a salary accordingly.

8. If I participate in Cooperative Education outside the city or abroad, will I be responsible for accommodation and other expenses? Will there be any support? For students participating in Cooperative Education abroad, the university covers the round-trip flight ticket once only. Accommodation and other expenses for students participating in Cooperative Education outside their city or abroad are the responsibility of the student. Neither the university nor the host company provides financial support for these costs. However, it is recommended to contact the company to inquire about any possible additional financial aid or scholarships.
WORKPLACE SELECTION AND PLACEMENT

9. Where can I work during Cooperative Education? You can participate in Cooperative Education at companies partnered with the university. If you'd like to work at a non-partner company, you may suggest the company to the Cooperative Education Coordination Office.

10. What is the deadline for suggesting a company? You must submit your company suggestion by September 1, 2025, at the latest.

11. Can I apply to multiple companies at the same time within the Cooperative Education program?katılım şartlarını sağlayan herkes katılabilecek mi yoksa kontenjanlarda bir sınır bulunmakta mıdır? Yes. You may select up to 3 preferences based on the available slots in the system.

12. Can every student who meets the criteria participate, or are there limited quotas? All students who meet the eligibility criteria may apply. The Coordination Office determines quotas for each department. Although the goal is to place all eligible students, not every company may receive students, and not every student may be placed.

13. What happens if I am not placed in any of my preferred companies? Placements are made based on mutual preferences. If you are not placed in the first round, the placement process will be repeated for any remaining available spots.
INSURANCE, WITHDRAWAL RIGHTS, AND COMPANY CHANGES

14. Who is responsible for insurance and legal permits during the placement? For placements abroad (in the host country), students are responsible for obtaining all necessary legal documentation, such as a visa or work permit, required to work in the host country. The university assumes no legal responsibility for employment authorization. Additionally, students must ensure they have valid and comprehensive health insurance that covers the entire duration of the placement, which is also the student's responsibility. For placements within Türkiye, the required insurance procedures are handled by the university, in accordance with national regulations. .

15. If I decide to withdraw from the program after starting, can I return to my courses? If you withdraw within 7 days of your start date, you may return to your academic courses without interruption. However, once you begin working, you cannot request a leave of absence.

16. Can I change the company I'm placed in during the Cooperative Education period? A student may request a company change from the Coordination Office for justifiable reasons. If the request is accepted, the student will be placed in a different company. Please read the guidelines carefully.
EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT

17. How is the Cooperative Education process evaluated? At the end of each semester, students give a presentation detailing their work experience. The final grade is calculated as the arithmetic average of the company supervisor’s evaluation and the student’s presentation.

18. What documents are issued upon completion of Cooperative Education? Students who complete the program will receive a Cooperative Education Certificate signed by the Coordination Office, the Rectorate, and the company. This document officially shows where and how long the student worked.
